WIELICZKA: 7 CENTURIES OF POLISH SALT

On Wed., March 10, 2010, Ralph Baumgartner will be presenting a power point presentation and lecture on the Wieliczka Salt Mines of Poland and will highlight the unique collection of mining construction and installation implements and tools. The talk will also stress the impact that the mine had on the economic and political development of Polish history. The objects of early mining, art sculpture in salt, underground chapels and rich interior decorations are objects without parallel in the world.

On Sept. 9, 1975, the salt mine in Wieliczka was entered as one of the first items on the UNESCO world cultural heritage list. It is the only salt mine active since the Middle Ages. Come see and hear about this truly magnificent Polish marvel.

Needed:

The Church Carriage House is in need of a Laundry Washer. The one we have had in there for caretakers since 'who-knows-when' is kaput. Given the mutual age of the Dryer we assume it won't be long before that also needs to be replaced. If you or someone you know is holding on to a Washer &/or Dryer for the Rummage Sale or to donate to a charity please consider donating it for this cause.

The donation would be to the church as it would become part of the permanent assests of the carriage house. If you have a donation, questions, etc. please contact our caretaker, Michelle George, at 208-5891 for details. Thank you in advance!!! Michelle George
