Join us for an extra special Flower Communion service on June 21st where we will be offering and participating in a child dedication!
Flower Communion services honor our community in a way that celebrates both the diverse individual as well as the common collective. Originally created in 1923 by Unitarian minister Norbert Capek of Prague, Czechoslovakia, the Flower Ceremony was introduced to the United States by Norbert’s widow, Rev. Maya Capek. So, while we’re celebrating our interwoven fabric of community, what a perfect time to honor our youngest congregants and build covenant with our families.
For those new to UU, a child dedication in Unitarian Universalism offers both families and other congregants a way to hold a promise together to nurture our children and youth within UU values and through congregational life. Our last child dedication can be found on our YouTube (@uuamherst) during the 4-20-2025 service, “Earth Day & Easter, Of Course.”
We offer child dedications to all members as well as UU Amherst friends who have been visiting for some time.
Please contact Rev. Michelle or Katie Cosgrove DFD, by June 14th if you are interested in participating in this ceremony with your children or if you have any questions
