Justice Advocacy Team Update

At the last Justice Advocacy Team meeting, concerns were expressed during our Community Cares discussion about the families and children currently being left behind as military personnel and Reservists are being called up to active duty. While military families often expect disruption of life and routine as those serving are called away, recently Reservists have seen an increase in deployment. We know that being called up takes at least one parent away, sometimes both. Length of deployment can vary and be unexpectedly extended. Those left behind are left to fill in gaps in the family, tighten financial budgets, and face increased stress.
November is the time of “Thanksgiving”. The time of family gatherings and preparing for winter. Military families often struggle more during these times. The Justice Advocacy Team wanted to know who in the community helps these families; what mutual aid organizations are there that we could support and show them our community cares. We found four such organizations as we began to look at this concern and would like to share this info with you so we all can reach out to help.
