Endowment Trust
In 1992 the Unitarian Universalist Church of Amherst congregation authorized the establishment of the Endowment Trust. The aim of the Trust was and remains to receive, invest, and manage gifts and bequests made to the Church by members and other individuals or entities to strengthen the long term financial resources for the work and purposes of the Church. The primary objective of the Trust is to accumulate and increase the principal of the Trust, thereby creating a fund which will generate income which may be used annually to assist in meeting Church operating and capital expenses without relying exclusively on fund raising.
GIVING
The Unitarian Universalist Church of Amherst Endowment Trust is a 501(c)(3) entity and provides these opportunities to help ensure the Church’s long-term financial health and security in the future:
- add the church in will or insurance as a beneficiary.
- make smaller, periodic gifts through E-Giving
- give in memory of friends or loved ones who have died.
- talk to a tax accountant about 401k and other retirement tax benefits
To learn more about the Endowment, you can talk to the trustees or read the brochure.
MEETINGS
The Endowment Trust meets quarterly. The Agenda generally includes a review by the Trust’s financial advisor, discussion of pending requests from the UU Amherst Board of Trustees, a report from the Board liaison, recent gifts, and other issues.
UU Amherst members are welcome to attend these meetings, and are asked to notify the Endowment Chair in advance and indicate if they have specific questions. This will enable the Trustees to have relevant information that may be shared available.
