Subject: Shop at Target? Bring this letter with you on your next visit.
|
Bring this letter with you to urge Target to end environmentally harmful food waste. By now, you may already know that retailers like Target throw out around 10 percent of the food produced in the US before consumers even have a chance to buy it — often based only on its appearance.1 You may also already know that throwing away this food wastes precious water and land and encourages the unnecessary use of pesticides and fertilizers that can poison wildlife and pollute the habitat that species need to survive.2 By delivering this letter to any of the retail chain’s 1,800 stories, you’ll raise awareness about the environmental impacts of food waste — and amplify the voices of the more than 40,000 nature-minded Environmental Action supporters who have already urged Target’s CEO to stop throwing out perfectly edible and nutritious food because of its appearance. Thanks so much for taking the time to be a champion for nature. Together, we’re not only spreading the word about the impacts of food waste on nature — we’re also showing retailers like Target that protecting the environment is good for business. With Gratitude, Chris, Marcia, Pat, Sally, Joan, and the entire Environmental Action Team 1.
