The truck rumbles down a road it hadn’t been down in years, its bed full of old metal waiting to be recycled. “The universe will provide,” the driver says, right as a never before seen scrap metal yard appears on the left. There exists a gamble between intentionally influencing the arc of the universe
and trusting the movement of the universe through meditation and observation. The choice is yours—do you gamble?

Julie Taylor is a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Buffalo where she volunteers as a worship associate, supporting the worship hour and occasionally delivering sermons. She has been a UU since 1994 when she walked into her first UU church—the Unitarian Universalist Church of Hamburg—and found a spiritual home that she continued in the Buffalo church. She has taught religious education, served on the Nominating Committee, the Personnel Committee, and the Board of Trustees. Her current passion is spreading a spiritual message for Unitarian Universalists. She lives in North Buffalo with her husband, three children, and way too many grandcats.
